Health System Strengthening

Toward Climate Resilience: Prioritizing Healthy Communities

Climate change impacts human health both directly and indirectly. As the climate warms, the  healthcare burden will increase precipitously as people are affected by poor air and water quality, heat stressors, food- and water-borne disease, food scarcity, and extreme weather events. Creating strong health systems is vital to peaceful, prosperous communities that can respond to looming health threats.

Community Health and Women’s Health

A strong and well-resourced community-based healthcare system is an essential component of climate resilience.

As climate change advances and the global disease burden increases,  the under-resourced health systems of the Global South will crumble under the weight of demand. We aim to invest in solutions that strengthen local clinics and medical services that that function as core community institutions will be a bulwark against climate change threats, providing accessible and effective curative care, preventing major health events before they happen, and empowering people and families with the knowledge they need to steward their health and wellness.
